Feasibility Studies

FBLA Orlando Trip Feasibility study

Scott Christensen has many skills, mainly the business and people skills. Wyatt has artistic skills along with lateral thinking inclination. There are six members in the group hypothetically planning this event: Joshua Evangelista, Matthew Connor, Wyatt Broxson, Dalton Bloch, Kyle Schubring, and me, Scott Christensen. Planning the trip to FBLA States would suit us as a group very well as we each are very familiar with faculty and administrators and most importantly, FBLA.
The objective of the event would be provide safe and cheap travel for the members of FBLA to from Palmetto to Orlando. We would be transporting and accommodating 20-30 students along with about 3 chaperones. In order to raise funds, our group will coordinate a number of fundraisers, including a poinsettia and Krispy Kreme donut sale. In total, we expect to raise $1,000-$2,000 with the students expected to pay about $50 themselves.
Informing students about the trip will not be a problem for our group, as awareness is already set up through FBLA. However it will be our task to establish awareness of fundraisers. This will be done on campus by using announcements and daily news, and elsewhere by word of mouth from those FBLA members who will be selling the poinsettias and donuts.
Everything is within legal and moral guidelines and is in the best interest of FBLA and Palmetto High as a whole, so it will be easy to gain administrative approval. There are not likely to be any negative responses to the trip, other than teachers unhappy about missed class time for students on the trip. Legal restraints include permission/release forms from parents and fundraising.
As we are scheduling travel and experiences from other sources, we will not have to worry about perishability or seasonality.
SWOT Analysis
Strengths: set participations, annual event/already established, achievable timeframe,
Weaknesses: safety concerns, chaperones needed, health concerns, long trip to Orlando, not very flexible
Opportunities: national recognition for both the school as well as student, learning experience,
Threats: Foul weather, bus failure, miscommunication with hotel

Introduction to AICE Presentation
and Online Interactive
1.       Who is in the group and what roles do they have:
a.       Joshua- Can divide work between members, can recruit and obtain permission for team members. Role: Coordinator
b.      Matthew- Can led group work, and has previous computer knowledge and skills useful for webpage and video design. Role: Leader, Completer-finisher
c.       Wyatt- Artistic skills and lateral thinking inclinations. Role: Plant

2.       There are six group members.
3.       A virtual tour combined with an information session will be an easy event for this group to plan.
4.       This event will provide student testimonial and course analysis for people interested in learning more about the AICE program or who are considering entering the program.
5.       Students from 7th to 11th grade may be interested in this event, along with their family.
6.       This information session is not purposed for donations or admittance fees.
7.       We should be able to enlist on school film crew for help, so only cost should be refreshments, an estimated 50 dollars.
8.       Social media, word of mouth, on campus brochures and middle school announcements will be used to inform about this program.
9.       A local business may be interested in sponsoring whatever costs we have.
10.   As this event will be pushing the accelerated curriculum our school offers, our school and community should approve of this event, as it can only have a positive influence on the program.
11.   It seems unlikely that there would be any negative responses to this event. Perhaps taking up space could be looked down upon if administrators do not see it as a fruitful endeavor.
12.   There will be no money coming in from customers. This is not a major problem, as there will be little to no expenditure, and if we found a need to spend money, we should be able to find advertising contracts to pay for such things as brochures.
13.   While individual members may have a tendency to slack on work, strong leadership and a need to meet deadlines will keep our team working steadily toward our goal.
14.   We have an estimated four months before we need to run this event. As the majority of this event will be online, it will be easy to produce the videos we need. For our live question and answer, one night should be quick to organize.
15.   If we decided to advertise, we would need to obtain permission from Palmetto High. As of right now, the only permission we need is from our AICE coordinator, for recording teachers, and from the principal, for permission to use the auditorium for a night.
16.   Seasonality- This may be difficult, as it’s the middle of the year, and few may want to learn about scholastic opportunity at this time of the year.
Tangibility- By releasing videos online, people would have a taste of what the live Q and A will be like.
Perishability- As the videos of live session and interviews will be online, this event will not perish as long as the AICE program remains intact.
17.   Strengths: Easy; low cost; will never perish;
Weaknesses: High involvement from other groups; requires separate filming sessions; many schedules need to be shaped.
Opportunities: Allows the school to spread the good news of higher education.
Threats: We may not get permission, or have few people show up.

Car Show
3: Our group has many outside sources and abilities, making a car show a possible exercise.
4: The objective of the event would be to raise money for charity via donations from spectators.
5: This activity will appeal to students interested in cars and car aficionados around Manatee County.
6: Car entry and viewing would be a small fee, $2 dollars to view, $5 dollars to show, with paid refreshment stands.
7: Cost to us would only be cost covering for refreshments, lot should be free from school.
8: Word can be spread by flyers, alerting local part shops, and enlisting group contacts.
9: No sponsorship should be required, unless food stands were sponsored.
10: This event would earn money for a selected charity.
11: Loud noises and trash may be negative influences from this event.
12: Very little expenditure with a medium expected income is a good net profit balance.
13: Yes, every member in our group is dedicated to working hard and making the project a success.
14: The time frame we have chosen for this event is mid-January, allotting time to get the money to charity as well as finish all documents pertaining to the event. The projected time frame is well within reason for planning this event.
15: Money allocating to charity and using a PHS lot may be legal problems to solve.
16: Seasonality- Time frame appeals to snow birds and weather will be cool.
Tangibility- There is no way to test this event beforehand.
Perishability- This is a one-time event.
SWOT analysis:
Strengths: Tax-deductible, Minimal cost, Income goes to charity, Resources easily accessible.
Weaknesses: Could get rowdy
Oportunities: Makes money for charity, Bring awareness to the charity,
Threats: Noise complaints, Possible legal constraints

5k Feasibility Study
                3. Setting up a 5K race at our high school would suit us as a group very well as we each are very familiar with faculty and administrators, and multiple members a part of cross country.
                4. The objective of the event would be generate funds for the school cross country team and to encourage running in the community.
                5. The general running community in manatee country would be attracted to this event with adequate advertising.  Thus, we may have a mix of runners, young and old, many high school runners too.
                6. The customers may be willing to pay, basically fundraising for the XC team. Therefore, customers may be willing to pay about the average cost for a 5K, around $20.
                7. Our race would be funded with sponsors and general funds from the cross country team, probably around 2000$ with permits and such included.
                8. In order to raise awareness and tell people about the race, we plan to print pamphlets and distribute them to running stores, including Fit2Run, Nike, Adidas, etc.
                9.
                10. Palmetto High School would be ecstatic to be involved with such an event. Other schools around the area already have their own 5K race and administrators at Palmetto would be proud to host their own 5K.
                11. The only negative response I can foresee is the traffic issue. In order to host this race, we may have to block off a road and that may be an issue for some.
                12. Our income should indeed match our expenditure, we do not plan to spend more money than we have. Since this is a nonprofit event we are doing it in a charity like fashion.
                13.  Every member in the group is willing to put up their personal money and put the time and effort in to make this event a success.
                14. The race is going to be advertised and set up in the course of the next several months, so the time frame is optimal.
                15. Everything is within legal and moral guidelines and is in the best interest of the home school and representing AICE as a whole.
                16. Seasonality- Good, as Florida races in Dec.-Jan. are optimal temperatures.
                Perishability- One time event.
Tangibility- Most people know what a 5k run will be like.
SWOT Analysis
Strengths: Easy to advertise, Easy to gain Participation, Set location
Weaknesses: Difficult set up, Getting permission may be difficult
Opportunities: Capitalizing on time of event, Fundraising
Threats: Foul weather, administrators may not be proponents
